Bannerghatta National Park
The Bannerghatta National Park is located on the outskirts of South Bangalore. Around 22 kms from Bangalore, the national park is home to about 1500 animals including 15 elephants. Spread across 104 sq. Kms (25000 acres), the Bannerghatta National Park is home to various animals like leopard, wild boar, sloth bear, elephants, lions, tigers and cheetah.

A portion of Bannerghatta National Park is designated as a ‘Biological Park’ and is developed exclusively as a reserve for wildlife. Visitors are allowed to go round the park in vehicles to see the animals in close proximity. They can also opt for Safari vans/jeeps to tour the park and have close encounter of wild animals that are let free in the jungle. 

Zoo in Bannerghatta National Park

The Bannerghatta Zoo has the highest number of tigers (66 nos) in captivity and has around 14 elephants including 3 tuskers. The zoo, which is inside the Bannerghatta National Park, is also a major attraction among the tourists. 

Butterfly Park in Bannerghatta National Park

The Butterfly Park here in Bannerghatta National Park is India’s first. The Butterfly Park is spread across 7.5 acres of land and comprises of butterfly conservatory, museum and an audio-visual room. Typical tropical environment has been artificially created inside the butterfly park to carefully preserve over 20 different species of exquisite butterflies. Around 20 species of butterflies can be found in this park.  

The Butterfly Park serves as an active center for environmental education, research and conservation. The conservatory also houses an informative museum which provides pictographic representation of the 4 stages of lifecycle of butterfly. The complex has also has theatre where you can enjoy 20 minutes movies about butterflies.

Snake Park

The snake park is another attraction in Bannerghatta National Park with a unique collection of reptiles. This is the place for you to have close encounter with different breeds of snakes. 

Other activities in Bannerghatta National Park

Other attractions include crocodile farm, aquarium, pre-historic Animal Park and a museum. The children will love to spend their time in Children’s park. Outdoor campaigns like amateur fishing, coracle boat rides, bird watching, river rafting, trekking etc are also undertaken in the park. You will also enjoy visiting the Uddigebande, Hajjamana Kallu and the Mirza Hills which are all nearby to Bannerghatta National Park.
